Thank God for Stanley McChrystal

Say what you will about Bush, he always knew to listen to his Generals.

Furious President Obama summons Gen. Stanley McChrystal to D.C.

The top commander in Afghanistan, Gen. Stanley McChrystal, has been summoned to the White House to explain biting and unflattering remarks he made to a freelance writer about President Barack Obama and others in the Obama administration.

The face to face comes as pundits are already calling for McChrystal to resign for insubordination.

McChrystal has been instructed to fly from Kabul to Washington today to attend Obama’s regular monthly security team meeting tomorrow at the White House.

The article, titled "The Runaway General", appears in the magazine later this week. It contains a number of jabs by McChrystal and his staff aimed not only at the president but also at Vice President Joe Biden, special envoy Richard Holbrooke, Karl Eikenberry, the ambassador to Afghanistan, and others.

McChrystal described his first meeting with Obama as disappointing and said that Obama was unprepared for the meeting.

National Security Adviser Jim Jones is described by a McChrystal aide as a “clown” stuck in 1985.

helen thomas: another one bites the dust

thank god, this chick is so annoying. on the other hand, does this mean that the Jews do control the media? (joke)

Helen Thomas Retires
The longtime White House journalist has stepped down from her latest role in the wake of controversial remarks made in late May about the need for Jews to "get the hell out of Palestine" and return to Poland and Germany.

"Helen Thomas announced Monday that she is retiring, effective immediately," read a statement from Hearst Newspapers on Monday. "Her decision came after her controversial comments about Israel and the Palestinians were captured on videotape and widely disseminated on the Internet."

Thomas said in a statement that, "I deeply regret my comments I made last week regarding the Israelis and the Palestinians. They do not reflect my heart-felt belief that peace will come to the Middle East only when all parties recognize the need for mutual respect and tolerance. May that day come soon.’’

The decision to retire came as Thomas faced rebuke from nearly every corner after video of her remarks during an interview with RabbiLive.com's Rabbi David Nesenoff emerged online late last week.

"Those remarks were offensive and reprehensible," Gibbs said during the Monday briefing, adding that Thomas's remarks "do not reflect certainly most of the people here and certainly not those of the administration." Thomas did not attend Monday's briefing and journalists, perhaps sensing the closing of an era, were spotted taking pictures of Thomas' empty front row.

Irena Sendler

The prize doesn't always go to the most deserving
There recently was a death of a 98 year-old lady named Irena. During WWII, Irena, got permission to work in the Warsaw Ghetto, as a Plumbing/Sewer specialist. She had an ‘ulterior motive’ … She knew what the Nazi’s plans were for the Jews, (being German.) Irena smuggled infants out in the bottom of the tool box she carried and she carried in the back of her truck a burlap sack, (for larger kids..) She also had a dog in the back that she trained to bark when the Nazi soldiers let her in and out of the ghetto. The soldiers of course wanted nothing to do with the dog and the barking covered the kids/infants noises.

Irena Sendler

During her time of doing this, she managed to smuggle out and save 2500 kids/infants. She was caught, and the Nazi’s broke both her legs, arms and beat her severely. Irena kept a record of the names of all the kids she smuggled out and kept them in a glass jar, buried under a tree in her back yard. After the war, she tried to locate any parents that may have survived it and reunited the family. Most had been gassed. Those kids she helped got placed into foster family homes or adopted.

In 2008, Irena was up for the Nobel Peace Prize …. She was not selected.

Al Gore won, for a slide show on Global Warming.

Iran: "U.S. currency is crumbling! nvm, jk. LOL."

That's right Ahmadinejad, boost our currency.

Pretty funny how less than a year ago Iran made a big deal about shifting their foreign currency reserves away from the dollar and our "crumbling economy", only to shift back as soon as the sh*t hit the fan in Europe.

Iran to Dump 45 Billion Euros for Gold Bullion and Dollars
The Central Bank of Iran is set to dump a whopping 45 billion euros in exchange for gold bullion and dollars as Gulf states also prepare to flee from the ailing single currency amidst debt turmoil in Europe that threatens to disintegrate the entire region.

According to the Iranian state website Press TV, Iran’s central bank has already begun converting its euro reserves into gold and dollars as a response to the “downward spiral” of the euro, in the first of a three phase movement to flee from the currency.

The report also claims that Gulf states are also beginning to switch their euro reserves into dollars and gold as some forecast the single currency could sink to parity with the U.S. dollar by next year.

hypocracy and the democrats

figures, the dems were outraged when republican lawmakers called for obama's birth certificate, but now it's ok to do the same thing to a new republican congressman? i hate politics. and barney frank.

p.s. you don't have to be born an american citizen to be a congressman, unlike the presidency.

Barney Frank wants to see Rep. Djou's birth certificate
Tongue firmly in cheek, Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.) on Tuesday afternoon called on reporters to demand to see the birth certificate of new Rep. Charles Djou (R-Hawaii).

yes, that is barney frank grabbing some dude's ass.

As Djou was being sworn into office, Frank walked the hallway of the Speaker's Lobby off the House floor calling on the media to "do your job" and review Djou's papers.

specter out, paul in

last night was a very interesting night in politics. i'm glad that the turncoat arlen specter is out of the picture, and am excited to see what rand paul can do in kentucky (something we've been following for almost a year).

Arlen Specter out, Rand Paul advances, Blanche Lincoln fights on

The defeat of Arlen Specter – Pennsylvania’s longest-serving senator in history – and the victory of “tea party”-backed Rand Paul in his Kentucky Senate primary Tuesday signal a restless electorate disinclined to follow the wishes of the Washington establishment of both parties.

In Pennsylvania, the storied political career of Senator Specter comes to an end despite the backing of the president and governor, the latest evidence that political coattails are a myth in this age of the independent political operator. Despite final polls showing a tight race, Specter lost to Rep. Joe Sestak in the Democratic primary 54 to 46 percent. Congressman Sestak will face former Rep. Pat Toomey (R) of Pennsylvania in November.

In Kentucky, novice politician Rand Paul – son of the libertarian former presidential candidate Rep. Ron Paul (R) of Texas – decisively beat the GOP’s hand-picked candidate, state Secretary of State Trey Grayson, 59 to 35 percent. The Paul victory represents the largest win yet for the tea party movement, an antitax, small-government backlash that has energized conservatives across the country for more than a year. The Grayson defeat was also a defeat for Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell, who had recruited Mr. Grayson to run. In November, Paul will face state Attorney General Jack Conway, who narrowly defeated the more conservative Lt. Gov. Daniel Mongiardo in the Democratic primary.

could ron paul actually win?

i've liked this guy for a few years now, never really thought he had a shot at the presidency. i know that polls are a dime a dozen and don't hold much weight, but it's still quite amazing. i just hope the republicans don't screw the pooch like they did in 2008.

Election 2012: Barack Obama 42%, Ron Paul 41%

Pit maverick Republican Congressman Ron Paul against President Obama in a hypothetical 2012 election match-up, and the race is – virtually dead even.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of likely voters finds Obama with 42% support and Paul with 41% of the vote. Eleven percent (11%) prefer some other candidate, and six percent (6%) are undecided.

Cuba has released photos of one-time exile cause celebre Elian Gonzalez wearing an olive-green military school uniform and attending a Young Communist Union congress.

The images were posted Monday on Cuban government Web sites, then widely picked up by electronic, state-controlled media.

hell hath no fury: the russian bombings and the "black widows"

*just as a disclaimer, mindsize does not advocate nor encourage the use of terrorism against any peoples or for any means*

i've never heard of this group until today. this all female terrorist group is comprised of widows of men who were casualties in the russian/chechnya conflict, and want revenge.

Hunt for 'Black Widow' terror gang after female suicide bombers kill at least 38 in bomb attacks on Moscow trains

Police in Moscow were tonight searching for female accomplices of two women suicide bombers who killed at least 37 people and injured 65.

Analysis of CCTV footage inside the Red Arrow underground trains of the two suicide bombers has revealed they were accompanied by two other women.

Their faces were not destroyed in the explosion, increasing the chance of successfully identifying them, and video from other cameras in Moscow Metro stations has also helped identify the faces of the two women who accompanied them and a man.

President Dmitry Medvedev declared Russia would act 'without compromise' to root out terrorists as he ordered airports to be put on alert and security to be stepped up throughout the country.

But suspicion has fallen on Muslim militants from the North Caucasus, where the Kremlin is fighting a growing Islamist insurgency spreading from Chechnya to neighbouring Dagestan and Ingushetia.

Alexander Bortnikov, head of Russia's Federal Security Service, said the terrorists were likely to have been 'black widows', Muslim women radicalised by the situation in the North Caucasus.

Analysts said the involvement of women was similar to the 'black widows' in Checnya - women who had lost brothers or husbands to Russian forces in the Chechen conflict.

tiger woods hires ari fleischer for PR. (not from the onion)

step 1 to rehabilitating public image - don't hire W's ex-press secretary

Tiger Woods Hires Ari Fleischer, Former Bush Press Secretary, to Rehabilitate Image

The New York Post reports that Tiger Woods has hired former George W. Bush press secretary Ari Fleischer to help rehabilitate him image.

Two sources in the golf community have told The Post that Ari Fleischer, the former presidential advisor to George W. Bush and the man who was brought in to help repair the steroid-shattered image of Mark McGwire, has been huddling with Woods, plotting a strategy for his return to golf -- at the Arnold Palmer Invitational starting March 25 at Bay Hill in Orlando, Fla.

"They were in his living room this week going over a strategy for how to handle Bay Hill in two weeks," one source told The Post.

The other source told The Post, "I would be shocked if he didn't play the Arnold Palmer."
