Conan headed to TBS in November

talk about coming outta nowhere. funniest part is that he totally Leno'd George Lopez.

Conan O'Brien coming to TBS

And the winner of the Conan O'Brien sweepstakes is ... TBS.

According to a press release sent out by the cable network (which, like CNN, is a unit of Time Warner), the comedian is joining TBS to host a late-night show that is expected to debut in November. O'Brien's show will be followed on TBS' schedule by George Lopez's "Lopez Tonight," which will move to midnight.

"In three months I've gone from network television to Twitter to performing live in theater, and now I'm headed to basic cable," O'Brien said in the statement. "My plan is working perfectly."

He also Tweeted Monday: "The good news: I will be doing a show on TBS starting in November! The bad news: I'll be playing Rudy on the all new Cosby Show."

O'Brien is currently embarking on a nationwide comedy tour, but he made bigger headlines earlier this year when NBC decided to move Jay Leno back to "The Tonight Show's" late-night slot. O'Brien, who had been hosting "Tonight," left the network.

Since his departure at the end of February, O'Brien has joined Twitter and decided to follow someone at random; launched a 32-city comedy tour (which will include much of his "Tonight Show" crew); and been the subject of countless rumors as to where he will land when a non-compete clause with NBC is over.

Conan, meet Fox. Fox, Conan

so it goes.

Fox ready to swoop in on Conan

FOX is set to move fast to pick up Conan O'Brien for a rival late-night show, according to sources. Talks between O'Brien and Fox could start as early as this week.

"Chances like this don't come around very often," says the source with knowledge of the situation. "If Fox wants to be in late night, now's the time."

That Fox is interested in Conan is no secret.

"He's one of the few guys on the planet who has demonstrated he can do one of these shows every night," Kevin Reilly, Fox's entertainment president, said last week. What is new is word that Fox wants to complete a deal with Conan quickly.

Fox has long wanted to create a late-night show -- and a morning show -- to compete with NBC, ABC and CBS.

Conan rakes in a cool $45 mil

good for him.

Conan O'Brien, NBC Reach $45Mil Settlement
Conan O'Brien and NBC worked out their final conflict hours ago and have reached a $45 million settlement ... and we've learned it's a sweeter deal for Conan than anyone thought.

Network sources tell TMZ the "mitigation" clause was taken off the table. Translation -- Conan will get a severance of $32.5 million, regardless of whether he gets another hosting gig. Not bad for seven months work.

As we first reported, NBC will pay $7.5 million to Conan's "Tonight Show" staff -- and our sources believe the network added several thousand more to the pot at the last minute.

In addition, NBC will pay a whopping $4.5 million to the executive producer.

Conan's last show is Friday. We're told NBC hasn't decided who will replace Conan for the period between Monday and the Winter Olympics.

NBC exec. had Conan arrested

pretty funny, i bet conan was the man in college. small world.

No Joke: Jeff Zucker had C0nan Arrested (in college)
While they were Harvard undergraduates, Jeff Zucker '86 called the cops on Conan O'Brien '85. According to articles in both the Harvard Crimson and Yale Daily News, Zucker, then president of the university's Harvard Crimson daily newspaper, dispatched the police to the Harvard Lampoon office after O'Brien, who was president of the campus humor magazine, organized a prank on his college rival -- stealing an entire print run of the Crimson before it could be distributed. "He only forgave me when I gave him The Tonight Show," Zucker told a Yale gathering back in 2005.

In 2001, Conan told The New Yorker this about the incident: "College pranks are supposed to be clever, but our rivalry with the Crimson had degenerated into us stealing something, Jeff calling the police, and the police making us haul it back," said O'Brien. (Other Lampoon pranks on Zucker included "a fake phone-sex ad with Zucker’s dorm-room phone number. Zucker did not find any of this particularly hilarious.") So what's to glean from this Harvard history lesson? Yes, Jeff Zucker was a thin-skinned prick who didn't understand comedy or know how to handle creatives even back then.

Conan O'Brien puts his show for sale on Craigslist

this dude is too funny, exactly why he should be staying where he is. the posting has since been removed, but it's pretty damn funny that he put it up in the first place.

Conan O’Brien Puts Late Show on Craigslist

In an effort to further boost his popularity and ratings, none the less, Conan placed an ad on Craigslist, that stated “4 SALE: BARELY-USED LATE NIGHT TALK SHOW – MAKE ME AN OFFER!!! (UNIVERSAL STUDIOS).” This is another reason why I think that Conan is a brilliant comedian, and someone who really thinks outside the box when it comes to connecting with a younger and more modern audience. And this also shows that Conan knows how to get ratings – as all of this press they are getting is consequently boosting their ratings. The Craigslist ad reads:

4 SALE: BARELY-USED LATE NIGHT TALK SHOW – MAKE ME AN OFFER!!! (Universal Studios)

Date: 2010-01-13, 3:48PM PST

This is a chance of a lifetime to own your very own late night talk show—guaranteed to last for up to seven months!! Really must see to appreciate.

Information for potential buyers:

– Measures 100′ x 100′ x 32′ — plenty of room for a futon!

– Band can be sold separately

– Buyer must honor Barry Manilow booking next Thursday

MAKE ME YOUR BEST OFFER!!!!!! (Also willing to trade for Coldplay tickets.)

1992 flashback: Leno, Letterman, and the definition of irony

synopsis: nbc wants to replace leno with letterman, bump leno to 12:30. leno says no and threatens to leave the network. guess what happens next.

Jay Leno Criticizes NBC On 'Tonight' Cliffhanger

By BILL CARTER
Published: December 23, 1992

Jay Leno, expressing what he called "surprise and disappointment" with NBC executives, said yesterday that he believed his performance as the host of the "Tonight" show should have more than satisfied the network and that he did not deserve to be threatened with losing the leading show in late-night television to David Letterman.

"I am disappointed," Mr. Leno said. "I feel like a guy who has bought a car from somebody, painted it, fixed it up and made it look nice and then the guy comes back and says he promised to sell the car to his brother-in-law." Go Elsewhere? 'Of Course'

Mr. Leno said he would "obviously leave NBC immediately" if the network decided to give the "Tonight" show to Mr. Letterman. He said he would absolutely refuse to do a show in the 12:30 A.M. spot.

Conan already in talks with Fox regarding move from NBC

sucks that NBC screwed conan over so badly. they'll get what's coming to them after the figure out that jay leno isn't funny, no matter what time you put him at.

Conan looking to leave NBC over late night changes
The peacock ruffled Conan O'Brien's feathers -- and now he's ready to fly the coop. The "Tonight Show" host feels like the redheaded stepchild of late-night TV after NBC's abrupt decision to cancel Jay Leno's 10p.m. experiment after just five months -- and return the car-loving comic to O'Brien's coveted 11:35 p.m. slot.

"He's done a great job for NBC. He moved his entire staff, he moved his family to LA. And five months later, they repay him like this?" one source said. As it stands now, the source said, "Conan would be happier somewhere else."

The pompadoured host has "many options," including a move to Fox, which for years has been looking to create its own late-night show.

In fact, he has already spoken with Fox, The Wall Street Journal's Web site reported last night.

kirstie alley does not find conan funny

hahaha, i'm suprised it's taken this long for her to say something.
Kirstie Alley Slams Conan O'Brian

Conan O'Brien should watch out when he makes fat jokes. Kirstie Alley, now filming a reality series about her current weight loss venture and working on a line of products, went after the "Tonight Show" host on Twitter in a tweeted conversation with Star Jones, part of which is below. She says he "acts like I bit his dick off" and refers to him as Conan O'Bitch O'Brian.

Rod Blagojevich and His Hair to Grace The Daily Show with their Presence Thursday

Sometimes you wake up in a good mood, only to discover that a lawnmower is destined to run over your foot by sundown. Other days, you wake up angry at the cat that's screaming outside your window, and then you find out that the funniest/corruptiest politician since Boss Tweed is gonna be on The Daily Show.

Guess which day today is.
