Man kills bobcat with bare hands during north Phoenix attack
PHOENIX - After being attacked by a bobcat Monday afternoon, a local man reportedly protected himself and killed the cat with his bare hands.

Just north of the Valley near Lake Pleasant, an Arizona Game and Fish official says the man was hooking up his trailer when he looked underneath and the bobcat attacked, knocking him on his back. To protect himself, the man reportedly held onto the cat until it died.

The bobcat later tested positive for rabies.

  4. bob cats out size a house cat 3 xs . Have paws 6 to 8 inches in diameter. And could easily kill a large dog. If you think killing a rabid bobcat is no big task maybe you should give it a try. Badass.

  5. Your sense of scale must be even worse THAN your grammar. Bobcats are not very big, but they're vicious, powerful creatures, and are much larger THAN a house cat. On top of that, trying putting one down with your bare hands when it's rabid; probably 20 times harder THAN subduing a misbehaving kitty.

  6. I dont know what bobcats your looking at, but the one that visits my yard several times per week is probably about 40 or 50 pounds. I wouldn't mess with that cat for anything. I know for a fact that it can take out deer. They leap from a higher elevation and clamp onto the throat until that deer quits moving. If this guy took one out with his bare hands, it was because he had no way getting away alive if he didn't. I'm impressed.

  7. Funny. Reminds me of things around my Neighborhood. People were telling about the small Bobcat. I kept seeing a HUGE domestic cat with rippling muscles - 35 pounds? Turns out there is a four to one difference between the sexes in Bobcats. Sexual Dimorphism. Just like Elephant Seals. The female is slightly smaller than a house cat... that's the one they were seeing. The male is a muscled badass that can take out dogs - that's the one I was seeing. The male though turned out to be curious and friendly. Never showed any aggression toward me and use to come up to me and sit about five feet away for ten seconds at a time. Not for food. No way. No one fed him. Infinite rabbits on the greenbelt. Just company. Miss him.

  8. I have a pixie bob which is a domestic-bob hybrid and it attacked me once. It was not pleasant to say the least. Killing a bob cat with your bear hands would be quite a feat. My cat punctured all the way through the main muscle in my hand(the one between the index and thumb). I'd like to see any of you "he-men" fight a bobcat with a smile on your face. ESPECIALLY if it was rabbid. You clearly have no idea what you are talking about.

  10. A mouse nearly took my friend's finger off one time and it wasn't rabid just scared,so yeah I'm inclined to believed a full grown 35-40lb pissed off bobcat with fangs and claws designed by god to be a predator could rip an adult male a new one

  11. I am a pro. I fight bobcats with a small traveling circus in southwest Texas and i am here to tell you they are mean as hell. often times I have thought maybe i should do something else for a living before one of them critters takes and artm off or rips the flesh from my face. That's what happened to the guy I replaced. His name was Howard Birkholz and he'd been fighting bob cats for a living since he was a twelve year old boy whose parents were mauled to death by a pack of them near Clovis. I have seen a bobcat weigh as much as seventy five lbs.(I kicked his ass though) and yeah they are tough to contend with it. If you insist on tangling with them call me up and for a small fee I will teach you some tricks that will ensure they do not get the better of you
