stallone. li. statham. rourke. schwarzenegger.

holy crap, this is going to be unreal. from the source:

This is all thanks to one man, Sylvester Stallone. The name of this movie you ask? well it’s called The Expendables.

Sly is the writer/director/star in this new movie but he is not the only one, he has brought a few friends along for the ride including Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Eric Roberts, Randy Couture, Steve Austin, Terry Crews, Mickey Rourke, Brittany Murphy, Charisma Carpenter, Gary Daniels, and the Governator himself Arnold Schwarzenegger. Now you might be thinking “Holy Shit! this must be a joke right?” Wrong! It’s real and it’s going to be big. Just look at the cast; it’s an action star overload. It’s the biggest team up since Jean-Claude teamed up with himself in Double Impact.

Looking at this roster nothing, and I mean Nothing! could stop this group; it’s just too crazy to think about. Even more crazy in fact, producer Avi Lerner has said sequels are being planned. “We already have got some ideas about Expendables No. 2, No. 3,” and “Definitely, it’s a franchise movie” are some of the things he told Nola.com. The sequels will give Stallone a chance to bring on some of the actors he previously wanted for the first film, like Jean-Claude Van Damme, Jackie Chan, Steven Seagal and Kurt Russell. To top it all off, they still haven’t released an authentic trailer for this yet.

Now with a budget of 80 million, an all star-cast and a classic 80’s action plot-line based around “A team of mercenaries head to South America on a mission to overthrow a dictator”, I’m thinking this will either be the greatest movie ever made or the worst of all time. Either way I’ll be first in line to see this. I’m expecting big explosions, gun battles and the death of even more action stars than the Internet video The Ultimate Showdown. I pray to the lord above (praise Jebus) that this is a long-term franchise, with the possibilities for other action stars to get in on the fun. So with that, I leave you with one more thought; with all the stars they have and would like, could we possibly see Chuck Norris make a comeback (or will at least sing the theme song)? One can only hope.
